Bobby
Lennox debut.
Bobby (nicknamed the "buzz-bomb" or "Lemon")
played for Celtic until 1980 (except for a period between
March and August 1978 when he starred in the USA for
a brand new club called Houston Hurricane in Texas).
He had an incredible career at Celtic winning a record
11 League Championships and 8 Scottish Cups. He also
played in two European Cup finals - winning in 1967 and
was runner-up in 1970. Bobby scored 297 competitive
goals for celtic. He was capped 10 times for Scotland
(including the 3-2 victory against World champions England
in 1967) and was honoured by H. M. the Queen with an
M.B.E. in July 1981. He was 36 years old when, as the
last of the Lisbon Lions, he was forced to retire from
playing through injury and immediately took over as coach
of the Celtic Reserve team under manager Billy McNeill.
